The lorry blocked two lanes of traffic – Miraculously there were no casualties
Close it’s about from 12:30 the freeway Volos-Velestinou due to a traffic accident in which a lorry loaded with sheet metal was involved, but there were no casualties.
The truck was heading from Volos to the PATHE intersection and shortly after the intersection for Sesklos, its driver, for unknown reasons, lost control of the heavy vehicle, hit and swept away the light poles located on the dividing island, crossed into the opposite traffic stream and overturned.
Fortunately, there were no other cars in the oncoming traffic at the time. Fire engines, a crane, and an ambulance have rushed to the scene, while the Traffic has closed the road.
The driver of the lorry was slightly injured in the lower limbs and head and has been transferred to the “Achillopoulio” Hospital of Volos, while hundreds of cars heading towards Volos have been stranded at the scene.
The driver lost control of the truck for an unknown reason, which swept the side protective bars and ended up on the side road.
6 Fire Department vehicles and a crane rushed to the scene, with 20 firefighters pouring foam to avoid explosion, but also a PPC workshop.
A PPC workshop was also found on site as it appears that the lorry pulled over power cables, as well as Police and Traffic patrol cars that regulate traffic.
