3 members of the organization were arrested – 150,000 euros their loot from a “hit” on ATM refilling in Sepolia
In dismantling a criminal organization the members of which they were robbing remittances at the time supplies were being made to ATM in Atticaproceeded the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Crimes against Life and Property of the Attica Security Directorate.
In order to deconstruct the criminal organization, an organized police operation was carried out in the early hours of yesterday, Thursday, July 13, 2023, in Ano Liosia, Metamorfosi and Melissia, during which three (3) members of the organization were arrested.
A case file was filed against them for – as the case may be – the establishment of a criminal organization and robbery with complicity, trespassing as well as violations of the laws on drugs, weapons and money laundering.
How did they act?
According to ELAS, as emerged from the investigation, the above at least from the middle of February 2023, had set up and joined a criminal organization with the purpose of committing robberies in various areas of Attica.
The members of the criminal organization acted in distinct roles (natural perpetrators, peddlers, etc.), while their target was mainly shops or areas where ATMs were installed.
In fact, in order to make it difficult to identify them, when committing the robbery, they covered their facial features, wore gloves and carried pistols with which they immobilized the cashier, while for their transition and escape they used a two-wheeled motorcycle with the which were then transferred to a storage area – base station.
What did the investigations find?
In searches carried out in houses as well as from their possession, the following were found and confiscated:
- -8- pills,
- -3- cars and two-wheeled motorcycle,
- pistol, -2- magazines, -35- cartridges,
- items of clothing worn on the day of the robbery and
- 11,250 euros.
From the investigation so far, a case of robbery committed in the morning hours of March 15, 2023 in Sepolia, where, having covered their facial features and with the threat of pistols, they removed -150,000- euros at the time of refueling an ATM.
The arrested persons, with the case filed against them, were taken to the competent prosecution authority, while the investigation to verify the full extent of their criminal activity continues.
