The Minister of Culture sent a message of condolence for the loss of the lyricist and writer Michalis Bourboulis, who breathed his last at the age of 84, referring to the “distinct personality in the field of artistic folk song, as his lyrics became a mirror of an entire era”.

Michalis Bourboulis, the lyricist of great, timeless hits such as “Plateia Vathis”, “Your Bengali Eyes”, “The Child from Crete”, “At Hadrian’s Gate” and many more, “wrote songs that became great hits and will accompany us forever” the Minister of Culture says when saying goodbye to the deceased. “He himself, a man who lived with simplicity and kindness, smiling and approachable, drew his subjects from everyday life, offering optimism and joy. He wrote plays that were put on stage, while his analyzes of painters and sculptors of modern Greece reflect the sensitivity with which he approached Art. We thank him for his contribution to Culture”.

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Christos Dimas, made the following statement:

“Mihalis Bourboulis was an important personality in music. A great lyricist and writer, who managed to associate his name with great successes of Greek song, art and Culture in general.
