Another difficult night is predicted for her island Rhodes as due to the strong winds that blow there are constant resurgences that create new fronts.

On the island of the Dodecanese, 25 firefighters are expected to arrive by air from Thessaloniki, while in the morning 31 Slovak firefighters with 4 vehicles will arrive by boat, which will be added to the 125 firefighters with 3 groups of pedestrian units and 35 vehicles, which are already operating. Aid is constantly arriving through the European Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) and rescEU
New European aerial assistance to deal with forest fires is provided to our country through the European Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) and rescEU, following the official request submitted by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection.
In particular, due to the forest fires that continue to rage in the country amid extremely adverse weather conditions, Greece yesterday submitted an additional request for aerial assistance to the European Mechanism to which they immediately responded:
Cyprus, which sent 2 Air Tractor type firefighting aircraft through rescEU and Croatia, which sent 1 CL-415 firefighting aircraft, also through rescEU.
It is reminded that air assistance to our country has also been provided, in the context of a corresponding request submitted to the European Mechanism, by Italy with two CL-415 firefighting aircraft from those included in the rescEU air fleet and France, also with two CL-415 aircraft.
Regarding the European ground forces assisting the Greek firefighters on the fire fronts, infantry units and fire engines have already been sent by Romania (40 firefighters and 5 vehicles) and Slovakia (31 firefighters and 15 vehicles).
Within the day, 149 firefighters accompanied by 49 vehicles from Poland arrive in Attica. Romania is sending an additional 50 firefighters and 10 fire trucks, while Bulgaria is also sending a pedestrian unit with 50 firefighters and 10 vehicles.
The Greek firefighters are supported at the same time by teams of firefighters from Romania, Malta and Bulgaria, who participate in the Pre-Positioning program of the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
It is noted that our country has also received aerial assistance to fight the forest fires on a bilateral level, from Israel and Jordan.
