The mayor of Kallithea, Dimitris Karnavos, proceeded to conduct a preliminary examination, to investigate the circumstances of the death of the 49-year-old worker at the Environment Directorate, on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

In a related announcement, the Municipal Authority of Kallithea expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased employee and states that the Municipality “had complied with all the circular instructions of the competent Ministries and has taken extraordinary measures to deal with the extraordinary weather phenomena”.

The 49-year-old employee, according to kallitheacity.com, went at 16:45 Sunday afternoon to open the playground which is located between Sparta and Perikleous streets.
After unlocking the entrance to the Spartis Street playground, he walked a distance of about 50 meters into the playground until he reached the second entrance and there, while trying to unlock the lock, he collapsed.

The neighbors immediately notified EKAB and indeed in a few minutes, the DIAS team, an ELAS patrol car, as well as an EKAB two-wheeled rescuer arrived at the scene.

As kallitheaonline.gr reports, the worker was facing several health problems and belonged to a vulnerable group.

The rescuer, according to the testimonies, fought a superhuman battle for about 20 minutes applying CPR and using an automatic external defibrillator, but to no avail.
