The calendar shows July 24, 2023 and some Greek footballers, not a few in fact known to the general public, as their CV is “heavy”, they have not yet found their next career stop, remaining free at the market.
With the transfer window in Stoiximan Super League to be ongoing and the Greek element to is missing from most teams, it’s a wonder why Premier League clubs haven’t yet moved to sign some of these players.
Top name on the list is the Socrates Papastathopoulos, where he remains free to this day, while until last year he was playing for Olympiakos as one of the main defenders of Piraeus, in the league, Cup and Europe. The name of the international Greek stopper has connected with teams from Italy, but still remains on the free agent market.
It is also noteworthy that Atromitos and Lamia released most players from their roster, essentially paying for the bad year both teams had last season.
On the other hand, Achilleas Poungouras, a former Panathinaikos player who, in fact, played as a starter in several games, is also free, as he did not renew his contract with the “greens” which expired on June 30, 2023. Although his name was linked to Aris, the “yellows” they immediately denied.
