A online resident registration application who are evacuating their villages, due to the fires in Rhodes, the South Aegean Region put into operation.

It is a simple-to-use application that enables residents and tourists to declare, from their mobile phone, their personal information and that of those accompanying them, while at the same time it locates their exact geographical location and stores it in a database.

In this way, the user is recorded not only if he is in temporary accommodation centers but at any point outside organized areas, even in the countryside.

The online registration application followed the invitation sent yesterday by the South Aegean Region to the island’s accommodation sector, in order to proceed to beds for rent in the northern triangle of Rhodes, specifically on the eastern side up to Archangelos and on the western side up to Theologos, and then proceeded to create a special platform for the introduction of the available beds. With this initiative, an effort is being made so that, in the midst of high occupancy in hotels and accommodations and the peak of the tourist season, temporary relocation needs can be met with the best possible conditions for those affected. Yesterday, tourists were transferred from schools and sports facilities to hotels that responded to the Region’s call and declared free rooms on the platform.

In Rhodes, the preventive evacuation of residents and visitors from the southern part of the island began on Saturday, July 22, which developed into the largest operation in Greece, safely transporting more than 19,000 tourists to temporary accommodation centers.

Yesterday, Monday July 24, 90% of the tourists had left from the temporary accommodation centers being transferred either to another hotel or to the airport for their return flight or back to the hotels from which they left as a precaution, while the remaining approximately 10% is already being transferred so that within the next few hours the departure is fully completed.
