As the first priority of her term at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court, the new prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adelini, mentions her need to speed up the administration of justicenoting that the slowness in rendering justice to the citizens, “shakes the citizens’ sense of justiceincreases the risk of entrenching the feeling of impunity, undermines social peace and prosperity and ultimately harms the Rule of Law, at the same time exposing our country internationally.
Georgia Adelini’s statement in detail
“The position entrusted to me by the State is an honor, but also a great responsibility and which my worthy predecessors served. The prosecution institution is one of the strongholds of Justice and Democracy, since it guarantees the legitimacy, rights and freedoms of citizens and at the same time plays an important role in the administration of criminal justice. We will continue to serve him with my colleagues of all ranks, with sobriety, but also determination, with the severity or leniency imposed by the occasion, remaining attached to the Constitution and the laws and protecting our fellow citizens, especially the most vulnerable, such as minors and victims of all kinds of violence.
“As is also known to all, Justice is the first prerequisite of civilization, the road to social peace and the well-being of citizens. Necessary conditions for the fulfillment of its mission are quality and speed, in fact, there is no quality without speed. The slowness in awarding it shakes citizens’ sense of justice, increases the risk of entrenching the feeling of impunity, undermines social peace and prosperity and ultimately harms the Rule of Law, simultaneously exposing our country internationally. We will make every effort, working with judges, lawyers and court officials, to to achieve the overall upgrade of the administration of Justice in our countryin the context defined by the needs of society and the requirements of a modern State of Law”.
