The bad weather “Elpis” has already started to show its “teeth” with the traffic, as it announced, being forced to stop the arrival of vehicles on the following roads in Attica:
1) On Dionysos Avenue (Penteli Ring Road) from the height of Agios Petros to Penteli
2) On Dionysou Street (Dionysos Ring Road) from the height of “414” to N. Makri
3) In Parnithos Avenue from the height of the cable car to both traffic streams
The mayors convened an extraordinary council with their staff and members of the Civil Protection, to prepare for the severe weather and to deal with them. The snow machines, the generators, as well as the tons of salt, are ready to be made available to the citizens during the bad weather, while all the competent services will be on 24-hour readiness.
At the same time, the Social Service of the municipalities is on full alert to offer any assistance to the vulnerable groups of the population.
The municipalities have already announced those points in each area, which will function as heated spaces, for any citizen who needs it, but also for the homeless.
Phones have been posted, where one can call for help in case of emergency or to report a dangerous event.
Many municipalities have included in their planning and care for stray animals and are in a hurry to supply the necessary animal welfare organizations of their city and the volunteers.
Finally, they call on the residents to be informed about the recommendations made by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and in each case to follow its instructions faithfully.
