It is pointed out that from today until Wednesday the temperatures will be very low and their maximum values ​​will not exceed 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. At the same time the frost will be strong and especially in the central and northern country locally total.

Heavy snowfall in places, initially in the central and northern Aegean, Evia and gradually in eastern Thessaly (mainly Magnesia), in eastern Sterea and in the evening in the eastern Peloponnese, the Cyclades and Crete.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE

The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis, appealed to the citizens to avoid any unnecessary movement in the next 48 hours and to be very careful, after the wide coordination meeting held at the ministry for the development of Hope”.

At the same time, the personnel of the Fire Brigade serving the Fire Services of Attica, Magnesia, Evia, Boeotia, Cyclades and the island of Skyros were put on partial alert since last night, in order to deal with the consequences of the dangerous weather phenomena for as long as they remain. according to the updated forecasts of EMY, while the staff of the rest of the Fire Services of the country remains on increased alert.

In addition, Mr. Stylianidis also addressed a strong recommendation to the drivers of heavy vehicles that are going to use the Athens-Thessaloniki road to prefer other similar highways such as Olympia and Ionia Odos in order to avoid any possible problem, while he added that those drivers .Χ. vehicles are planning to move on the Athens-Thessaloniki axis, they should definitely have anti-skid chains with them. “The police, depending on the evolution of the weather, will not allow vehicles without anti-skid chains to enter the highway,” he said.

It was also emphasized that all the co-competent bodies are in full readiness for their immediate intervention in case of emergency due to adverse weather conditions, in accordance with the General Plan for Emergency Response and Immediate / Short-term Management of the Consequences of Snowfall and the code name “North”.
