Street chaos in the north and west of Attica – Unbelievable suffering

Almost all the ring roads in the north and west of Attica are blocked, due to the severity with which the bad weather hit the basin Elpida.

Several vehicles have been immobilized in various places as they can not continue their journey without chains and there have been several traffic accidents.

Which roads are closed

According to its communication director Nea Odos Fotini Lambrou who spoke to SKAI, in the urban network until Malakasa operate 30 machines while the phenomenon is currently intense from Agios Stefanos until Martino.

From 8:30 in the morning, the traffic of heavy vehicles in the new national is prohibited Athens-Lamia road, downstream to Lamia, from the height of the bridge Kalyftaki and from the node Inofyta downstream to Athens. The rest of the vehicles are driven using anti-skid chains.

The traffic has been stopped on Anastaseos Street Papagou in both traffic streams from Papagou cemeteries to Ymittos, on Dionysos Avenue and in both traffic streams from the area of East in Nea Makri to Penteli and on the anonymous street in Kaisariani in both traffic streams from the height of Galopoula to Ymittos.

So far, the traffic of vehicles in Athens – Corinth is normal, however, many problems are faced by the residents in Cheeks, the Pen and the Aspropyrgos.

Due to the snowfall, traffic was banned in Dionysos Street from the height of 414 to Agios Petros. Parnithas Avenue is also closed to both traffic streams from the cable car and up.

The state mechanism is on standby

The Civil Protection services of the municipalities of Attica are on full alert and in constant cooperation with the Region, in order to rush immediately where a problem occurs or is reported. Snowplows have hit the roads and are working to keep the main road network open, although already in the municipalities of the northern suburbs the snowfall is heavy as it has been laid and therefore constant recommendations are made for careful and not pointless movement.

At the same time, the Social Service of the municipalities is on full alert to offer any assistance to the vulnerable groups of the population. The municipalities have announced the points that operate as heated spaces, for any citizen who needs it, but also for the homeless. Phones have been posted, where one can call for help in case of need or to report an event.

All the municipalities of Attica have been supplied with tons of salt, with which they supplied the inhabitants and it is still at their disposal today.

Finally, the municipalities invite the residents to be informed about the recommendations of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and in each case to follow its instructions faithfully.
