The President of the Bar Association of Athens and the Bar Associations of Greece addresses a letter to the Association of Lawyers of Europe (CCBE) Dimitris Vervesos against the Croatian lawyer Davorin Karadzic, who made a vulgar post defending the hooligan’s compatriots and the deadly attack in New Philadelphia.

Mr. Vervesos addresses his letter to the President of the Council of Bar Associations of Europe (CCBE) asking him to address the Bar Association of Croatia “…in order to initiate the relevant disciplinary proceedings against the lawyer..”

In particular, he notes that “the statements of a Croatian lawyer regarding the death of a young fan, a victim of blind fan violence, reflect the legal profession,…. evade the defense role of the lawyer, insult the legal profession, justify and encourage fan violence.”

The statements reflect the legal profession

“On the occasion of the death of a young fan, a victim of blind fan violence, the statements of the Croatian lawyer Davorin Karacic have come to light, which accuse the legal profession of violating fundamental principles and rules that govern its practice as determined by the European and National legislation and ethics. These statements evade the defense role of the lawyer, insult the legal profession, justify and encourage fan violence” states D. Vervesos in his letter.

And he concludes: “After that, I ask you, within the framework of your powers, to contact the relevant Bar Association of Croatia, which is a member of the CCBE, in order to start the relevant disciplinary procedure against him and for the national Bar Association to take an official position on this of Croatia.
