The attitude of one Greek Air Force officer, Squadron Leader and Flight Nurse Ekaterini Sigalawhich while participating in an educational program in the United States rushed to the aid of a man suffering a seizure and stayed by his side until first aid arrivedthe US Embassy in Athens announces with a Facebook post, in Greek and English.

“Sminagos and flying nurse of the Air Force, Ekaterini Sigala, demonstrated her unwavering commitment to helping others, when he was faced with an emergency while on a training program in the United States. Sminagos Sigala, participated in a specialized program of English for aviation of the Foreign Language Institute of the US Department of Defense, which provides training and cultural immersion for personnel of the US military and international partners. One day, while in class, Catherine and her teacher heard a disturbing sound and immediately knew something was wrong. A man suffered a seizure and was found in the hallway with a head injury. Sminagos Sigala, a flight nurse with over 13 years of medical experience, stepped in to help. He assessed the situation, helped the injured person and remained by his side until the first aid arrived. The actions of Sminagos Sigala not only they were recognized by the Institute’s leadership, but also aligned with her personal belief in helping others. She said: “As a flight nurse, I never forget to make a positive contribution to someone else’s life, even under the most difficult conditions. This day was one of them, and I am infinitely grateful that I offered immediate help and I am happy to know that this man is now safe and sound. Thank you, Sminage Sigala!”
