An entire operation is currently underway to transport the train from where it was parked to Davlia station, so that the fire brigade and EKAB can reach to transport the injured.
According to the first information, this is the train number 54 that was heading from Athens to Thessaloniki and which departed from Athens at 12:15 at noon. The specific train was immobilized for several hours at the Livadia station, as it was damaged by the heavy snow in its front part, as a result of which OSE special teams had to move there to repair the damage, in order to be able to proceed.
Despite the fact that the damage was repaired a few kilometers after the Livadia station, the train stopped again, as it had volumes of snow in front of it, which did not allow it to move. According to the same information, a motorbike from Oinoi station was then called to the back of the train to help it, so that it could overcome the obstacles and continue its course.
Under unclear circumstances, when the engine approached the last wagon, it fell forcefully on it, without any explanation being given so far. The collision was severe and resulted in the injury of 6 passengers, the driver of the engine and two other workers who were there to repair the damage. At the moment, firefighters are heading to the Davlia station located between Livadia and Tithorea. The train is also transported there, as it is the only place where rescue crews will be able to reach it to transport the injured.
The hospital in Livadia has sounded the alarm, since they still do not have a clear picture of what exactly the injuries are. The first information is confused, but speaks of slightly injured.
