More than 300 fines for violations of the Road Traffic Code “fell” in just one day in Thessaloniki and in fact in the heart of summer with many people away on vacation and the city almost empty.

According to the announcement of ELAS, yesterday traffic police officers carried out checks on 790 vehicles and confirmed 317 violations. In fact, 134 of them were for excessive speed.

Specifically, the announcement of the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki states:

“The Traffic Directorate of Thessaloniki, paying particular attention to the facilitation and protection of all users of the road networks (pedestrians and drivers), to the observance of the Road Traffic Code and to the reduction of traffic accidents, sets up traffic control crews and carries out targeted actions in order to comprehensively cover the surveillance of road networks and to increase the level of road safety. In this context, during the previous 24 hours (11-8-2023), targeted traffic controls were carried out in the Urban Development Complex of Thessaloniki & the Old Thessaloniki-Evzona National Highway during the previous 24 hours (11-8-2023), during which a total of 790 vehicles were checked, a total of 317 violations were confirmed, namely, 134 for violating the speed limit, 87 for illegal parking and 96 for other violations.

The Traffic Directorate of Thessaloniki will continue its activities, both with the implementation of traffic controls, and with the strong presence of traffic wardens, with the aim of preventing traffic accidents. In this effort, he asks for the cooperation of drivers and pedestrians, for the observance of road safety rules”.
