Relatives and friends say the last “farewell” to Lizeta Nikolaou today, at the Old Faliro Cemetery.

The beloved singer died at the age of 72 after a stay in the ICU of a private clinic due to serious injuries sustained when she fell down the stairs of a store.

THE Lizeta Nikolaou (real name Elisabeth Katikaridou) he was born in 1951 in Thessaloniki (Kalamaria) from Pontius, refugee parents. He was busy with the song from her school days. After a proposal was made to her, she auditioned to perform second voices in “Twilight”, where in the 1970s the cream of the Greek pentagram appeared (Dionysiou, Parios, Dalaras, Alexiou etc.). She remained in “Deilina” for many seasons where she now appeared as the permanent partner of Stratos Dionysios.

In the discography first introduced in 1973 in compositions by Takis Soukas and lyrics by Iraklis Papasideris. He performed songs of Mikis Theodorakis and appeared with great creators and performers, such as Yiannis Markopoulos (“Thessalian Circle” etc.), Vassilis Tsitsanis, Charalambos Garganourakis, Vicky Moscholiou and Dimitra Galani. In 1977, her first personal album titled “Lizeta’s smile” and songs written by some of the greatest Greek composers, such as Dimos Moutsis, Yiannis Spanos, Vassilis Tsitsanis and Yiannis Markopoulos.

In 1980, her second personal album was released “I loved you, you loved me” with songs by G. Markopoulos, A. Vardi and Chr. Nikolopoulos. Other records followed, such as “Lizetta’s Heads”, 1985, “So Loves Are Lost”, 1986, “I Want to Resist”, 1989, “Night Loves”, 1990, “Teren Mana How I Dance”, 1992, ” My Father’s Songs”, 1995, “Pontiac Rhapsody”, 1997. In 1985, the disc titled “Pontiac songs with Lizeta Nikolaou” was released, born from the ERT television series “The Great Debt”, scripted by Dimitris Iatropoulou, which was dedicated to the history of Pontus.

As he had said, among other things, on a TV show a few years ago, “I left my career up to her, I have no repulsion. After the ‘Thessalian Circle’ and all the collaboration with G. Markopoulos, big stores started asking me – it was like a fairy tale. I tell this to girls and boys and they tell me ‘but this is a fairy tale you’re telling us!’ Why do they work so hard, and they came so easily to me!”

From 1978 to 1983 she was married to George Lianis, with whom she had a son, Alexander.
