Between August 6 and 12, 2023, 106,040 traffic checks of drivers and vehicles were carried out and 24,062 violations were confirmed.

– 68% of offenses were related to excessive speed, not wearing a protective helmet, not wearing a seat belt, not having a driving license and illegal parking

– Controls continue based on the standing orders of the political and physical leadership of the Greek Police throughout the Greek territory.

2,726 in Thessaloniki,

2,060 in Attica,

2,003 in Thessaly,

1,855 in Central Macedonia,

1,680 in Western Greece,

1,569 in the Peloponnese,

1,502 in Epirus,

1,482 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace,

1,048 in Central Greece,

1,018 in the Ionian Islands,

793 in the North Aegean and

396 in Western Macedonia.

In particular, the violations confirmed concern:

8,288 for illegal parking,

4,387 for speeding,

1,433 for not using a protective helmet,

1,316 for driving without a driver’s license,

902 for not wearing a seat belt,

568 for drunk driving,

518 for K.T.E.O.,

390 for uninsured vehicles,

283 for signal violation,

219 for driving in the opposite traffic flow,

199 for mobile phone usage,

162 for noises,

157 for abnormal maneuvers,

152 for overweight-cargo dimensions,

97 for not keeping a safe distance,

93 for illegal overtaking,

79 for worn tires,

59 for opposite traffic on a one-way street,

48 for driver distraction,

44 for violation of priority,

37 for not using child seats,

37 for improper use of lights,

33 for violation of traffic signal,

33 for lack of seat belt,

19 for exhaust gases,

11 for not driving at the right end of the road,

6 for movement in the left lane

2 for violation of pedestrian priority at a crossing and

4,490 other violations.

The Greek Police attaches particular importance to road safety issues and in this context the controls will continue with unabated intensity in order to reduce traffic accidents.

In addition, targeted actions and specialized traffic controls of the Attica Traffic Directorate were carried out on a daily basis throughout the week from August 7 to 13, 2023, in the area of ​​the coastal E.O. Athens-Souniwith the aim of dealing with improvised races, as well as other dangerous violations that lead to traffic accidents, disturb the safety of transport and the smooth and safe movement of citizens.

A total of 370 traffic checks of drivers and vehicles were carried out, 231 violations were confirmed, for which the corresponding administrative fines were imposed.

In more detail, the violations confirmed were:

12 for deprivation of driving license,

42 for speeding,

12 for driving under the influence of alcohol,

13 for violating a red light,

16 for mobile phone use,

23 for not using a seat belt,

21 for not wearing a helmet and

92 for other violations.

In addition, 8 pairs of license plates, 22 traffic licenses, 33 driving licenses were removed, while 8 vehicles were transferred.

Controls will continue with the same intensity in other areas of Attica, which show increased and dangerous delinquency.
