A criminal organization was dismantledfrom the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces, whose members were active in the sale – trafficking of narcotic substances, mainly raw and processed cannabis (chocolate) as well as hydroponically grown cannabis (skunk) in various areas of Attica.

For the case seven (7) members of the organization were arrested, including a police officerwhile at their expense, as well as at the expense of one more member who is wanteda case file was filed for the – as the case may be – offenses of the criminal organization as well as violations of the laws on drugs, weapons and the customs code.

In addition, six (6) people are also included in the case file for – as the case may be – trafficking and supply of narcotic substances, who were not arrested, as the conditions for self-incrimination were not met.

The roles of the criminal organization

As emerged from the careful investigation and combined study of the pre-investigative material, the members of the organization acted with distinct and distributed roles, namely:

  • The two leading members of the organization, one of whom is a police officer, imported the narcotics into our country from Spain, through postal parcels, for which no recipient information had been declared,
  • two members of the organization were in charge of receiving said parcels while,
  • the sale to the prospective customers was undertaken by the above two leading members as well as two other members of the organization.
  • In fact, for the safekeeping and storage of the narcotics, the members used the organization’s “kavatza” warehouse, while at the same time they took increased protection measures by avoiding talking to each other through conventional telephone calls.

The code names

Furthermore, in the context of their communications they used coded phrases, in order not to perceive the content of their conversations:

  • narcotics: “t-shirts”,
  • raw cannabis: ‘papadakia’, ‘beech’, ‘foo’, ‘black’ and ‘Albanian’;
  • hydroponic hemp: “sku”,
  • processed cannabis in chocolate form: ‘choco’, ‘coffee’, ‘cocoa’ and ‘white’.

The deconstruction of the criminal organization took place, yesterday, Monday, August 21, 2023, when a member of the organization received from a police officer – impersonating a courier company employee – a postal package with processed cannabis (chocolate type) with a total gross weight of 1.027 kg, which had previously been imported into our country and was therefore arrested.

What did the investigations find?

At the same time, in the context of a coordinated police operation, the remaining members of the organization were located and arrested, while the following investigations were found and confiscated:

  • raw cannabis with a total weight of 33.5 grams,
  • processed hemp (chocolate) weighing 0.2 grams,
  • -3- precision electronic scales, -8- drug graters,
  • -7- hemp seeds,
  • -6- nylon improvised packages, with a strong smell of raw hemp,
  • -5- packages with twisted papers of improvised cigarettes,
  • pistol with a six -6- round magazine,
  • folding knife, -10- cartridges,
  • 070 euros,
  • -8- mobile phones, SIM cards,
  • -4- identity type photos,
  • postal package transport label sticker,
  • paper box with the shipment number of one of the postal parcels with which narcotics were imported into our country,
  • metal hotel door key,
  • proof of transaction,
  • -10- duty-free packets of cigarettes that did not bear the prescribed excise tax sticker and
  • two-wheeled vehicle.

From the investigation so far, it has been established that the members of the organization from May to August 2023, have sent and received in their possession eight (8) parcels, with the purpose of importing narcotics into Greece.

Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
