In the fire of Alexandroupoli, as well as in the one that occurred in the forest of Dadia, 241 firefighters with 12 groups of pedestrian departments and 70 vehicles are working, while 7 aircraft and 7 helicopters have been working periodically. Since the morning hours, six warning messages were issued through 112 to inform and safely remove citizens. Forces of the Civil Protection as well as ships of the Fire Brigade and the Coast Guard were activated to evacuate citizens.

Regarding Aspropyrgos, Mr. Artopioos said that 78 firefighters with 2 groups of pedestrian units and 30 vehicles are working on different fire outbreaks that occurred in the wider area of ​​Aspropyrgos, while 3 aircraft and 3 helicopters were working from the air, and he added that of the morning hours three warning messages were issued through 112 to inform and safely remove citizens.

In the fire that occurred during the lunch hours today, in an agroforestry area in Makrakomi, Fthiotida, 28 firefighters with 1 group of pedestrians, 12 vehicles, and 3 aircraft and 1 helicopter periodically attempted. From the morning hours, a warning message was issued through 112 to inform the citizens.

Also, as Mr. Artophios pointed out, fires are being dealt with in Yiliki of Boeotia, “Moschopodi” of Thebes, Agia Sophia of Arcadia, Kryoneri of Nafpaktia, Prodromos of Boeotia, Tarso of Livadia, in the area of ​​Prophet Ilias in Psachna of Evia, in Dialecto of Kavala, in ‘Ano Drosini and in the Rodopi stem.

In the extinguishing operations on the fire fronts, volunteer firefighters and forces of the Hellenic Police, as well as water tankers and project machinery provided by the General Staff of National Defense and the Regions of the country, are assisting.

Also, the groups of European firefighters who assist on the front lines of the fires affecting our country are further strengthened, following the additional relevant request for assistance submitted by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection to the European Mechanism.

It is noted that since yesterday, foot units and vehicles from Romania and 2 aircraft from Cyprus have been operating in our country.

The local investigative offices, as well as levels of the Arson Crimes Directorate in cooperation with the Greek Police and the EYP, are investigating the causes of the fires.

At the same time, he underlined that the personnel of all Fire Services, as well as all Civil Protection forces, remain on general alert, in order to deal with the increased service demands that have arisen, but also due to the very high risk of fire predicted for tomorrow, while they continue aerial surveillance patrols, as well as patrols by fire, police and military forces.
