As it became known from GEETHA, a pair of Turkish F-16 aircraft entered the Athens FIR today without filing a flight plan.

An air traffic violation was recorded in the Athens FIR in the southeast Aegean area.

The Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules, according to standard practice.

A violation of air traffic rules in the Athens FIR by a pair of Turkish F-16s in the same area was recorded on Monday, August 21 and on July 14.

It is recalled that the last time Turkish F-16s had entered the Athens FIR without filing a flight plan, was on February 3.

These were 2 pairs of Turkish F-16s along with a Turkish CN-235 naval cooperation aircraft. At that time, 3 violations of air traffic rules were recorded in the Athens FIR, which had evolved into 6 violations of the national airspace by Turkish fighters, in the areas of the northeast and southeast Aegean.
