A revival occurred in Mischos of the municipality of Iasmos, where, according to Mr. Tsalikidis, the fire is moving in the direction of Bulgaria.
For the third 24 hours, the fire brigades in Rhodopi are fighting a battle on many fronts as the fire from Evros crossed the administrative boundaries of the two prefectures and is burning areas in SE Rhodopi, at a time when fires have been raging since last Monday in other areas NW of Komotini.
A few minutes before 20.00 in the afternoon the residents in the areas of Hamilos, Belkios and Mesti were told by a message from 112 to move away towards Komotini.
The fire also reignited in Gratini in the municipality of Komotini and earlier in Gratini and Kassitera a message was sent from 112 to evacuate.
At the same time, a 112 message was sent to the residents of the Kassitera area in Rodopi in order to move away towards Sapes.
As the deputy governor of Rodopis, Nikos Tsalikidis, said to APE-MBE, the fire from Evros “passed” into the prefecture and is burning in Kassitera and Sykorrachis of the municipality of Maroneia-Sapon and the whole area is on the verge of being declared a state of emergency. Strong winds are blowing in the southern Rhodope Mountains, making the work of firefighters difficult.
A resurgence was also noted in Mischos of the municipality of Iasmos, where, according to Mr. Tsalikidis, the fire is moving in the direction of Bulgaria. Mr. Tsalikidis emphasized that so far there are no reports of burnt houses.
