Dozens of firefighters are fighting the flames for the 8th consecutive day in Dadia, as the flare-ups are continuous and the conditions in the area remain unfavorable and difficult.

Today’s forecast of the Civil Protection is typical, which for today Saturday gives category 4 (orange) the risk of fire in the region of Thrace, but also of Attica, Boeotia and southern Evia.

On the fiery fronts of Evros and especially in Dadia, dozens of firefighters and special bodies of the Fire Brigade are working in order to limit the spread of the fire and immediately intercept any new outbreak that breaks out.

The destruction in the virgin forest is incalculable, while the assessment of the Copernicus system is typical, according to which the fire in Alexandroupolis and Evros is the biggest fire of recent years in Europe. The latest figures estimate the burnt areas in the region at more than 720,000 hectares, which will affect the living standard of the residents more widely.

Mitsotakis at Kyra’s fire station – Battle with the revivals and on Parnitha

The battle with flare-ups continues in Parnitha as well. On Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Kyra fire station, where he was informed about the progress of the fire.

In Parnitha, strong forces are operating and facing flare-ups, mainly on its southwest side, near the Clan Fortress.

Mr. Mitsotakis was accompanied by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias, the General Secretary of Civil Protection Vassilis Papageorgiou, the Chief of Staff of the Fire Brigade, Lieutenant General Christos Lambris and the Director General of Forests and Forest Environment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vangelis Goudoufas, with whom he discussed the projects that were implemented and are being implemented to expand the fire zones that were created before the start of the fire season and further strengthen protection measures.
