The installation photovoltaic system provides for the amendment of the environmental operating conditions of the Athens Olympic Sports Center (OAKA).

With the amendment of the Joint Ministerial Decision signed by the general director of environmental policy of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Constantinos Dimopoulos, changes are foreseen regarding the renovation of existing constructions at OAKA, in the youth showcase, in the regeneration of the environmentchanges in the infrastructure networks and electrical installations (e.g. replacement and upgrade of all the electric lighting of the courts), changes regarding the use of water and energy and for waste.

Especially with regard to the use of energy, the following are provided for:

  • The estimated annual electricity consumption is 3.13 gigawatt hours
  • The energy consumption within the facilities refers to meeting needs such as lighting, cooling – air conditioning, hot water production, operation of commercial activities/catering equipment, operation of elevators, etc.
  • The energy needs of the project will be met with electricity from the DEDDIE network for cooling and air conditioning, lighting, movement and other loads, elevators and for use in catering. Light diesel oil for the operation of the existing power generating pair to cover emergency needs in the event of a network failure parentheses (lighting of markings and escape routes, security lighting, lighting of stairwells, lighting for the needs of shared traffic routes and meeting points lighting of underground countries system fire fighting ventilation of auxiliary parking areas).

In addition, the tennis club building is proposed to be installed photovoltaic panels with a surface of about 300 m² with annual produced electricity of approx 120,000 kWh covering about 4% of the total electricity consumption.
