Two incidents of beatings and violent behavior by patients at the expense of the health staff are reported by the Kilkis Hospital Employees Union to have taken place in the last two months.
The latest incident of violence is reported to have happened last Monday (21/08) at the Hospital’s Pathology Clinic, when session acted threateningly towards a nurse, he abused and verbally abused the nurses of the afternoon shift and required to be served without waiting, while at the same time the nurses were treating and processing patient admissions to the clinic.
According to the Union’s announcement, the voices and the hospitalized patients caused great disturbance to the medical and nursing staff, while the nurse who was attacked was unable to perform her nursing duties and was examined in the Emergency Department.
Previously, in another incident on 07/17 at 23:30, he arrived with an emergency ambulance as a patientwhich caused a great disturbance in the area of ​​Emergencies in order to be examined immediately without waiting.
The female patient was aggressive, threatened and abused nursing staff and then assaulted and hit the medical specialist who was in the intensive care unit examining patients, hit the nurse on duty nurse and stretcher bearer.
The Union points out that the Security Service of the Hospital has 6 employees. which are not sufficient to cover his needs, as in the afternoon and evening shift there is a security guard permanently at the Hospital gate, with the result that the Hospital is not controlled internally.
With its documents, the Union has pointed out the necessity of the presence of security personnel in the area of ​​Emergencies, the supervision of the interior and the clinics of the Hospital and notes that their request was not heeded.
“We immediately demand our defense as people and workers. No violence to the white shirts. Respect the doctors and nurses who treat you”, the Union’s announcement states.
