At the University Hospital of Patras, the 67-year-old man who was attacked by a bear, on Monday morning, was taken to Mesouda on the border of Trikala and Arta prefectures.

The 67-year-old was transferred yesterday Monday from the hospital of Arta to the University of Rio because of serious injuries to his hand.

According to information from Tempo24.News, he underwent an operation in order to treat the damage to his armpit and is under the supervision of vascular surgeons, while orthopedists are also expected to join the “battle”.

As trikalaopinion.gr reports, the 67-year-old, a permanent resident of Athens who during the summer months resides in his place of origin, in Lafina in the municipality of Pyli, went out on Monday morning for the usual hike. On the difficult paths of the area he had the misfortune to come face to face with a bear which initially attacked his dog that he had taken with him.

He himself tried to save the dog, but he was attacked by the bear which bit him on the arm and threw him into an impassable ravine.

In his misfortune, he was “lucky” to have a signal on his mobile phone with which he notified the authorities who, with the help of the volunteers of the Artas rescue team, located him and retrieved him.
