He is being taken to the investigator today the 53-year-old Greek Police officer from Crete who was arrested last Monday with complaints from three citizens for attempted extortion and money laundering.

This man, a police commander, was arrested by Internal Affairs, while the case against him is very serious and involves felony charges and specifically those of breach of duty and financing, according to ERT.

There are at least three complaints from citizens, two of which state that he appeared in tenders of the municipal authority in order to express his interest in health shops which they rented and demanded from the citizens to give him large sums of money in order that he himself would not participate in the tender and to be registered by the citizens. A typical case is a woman from whom he demanded €30,000 so that he would not be interested in a canteen. Thanks to the actions of this woman, this man was arrested as he was found in possession of pre-marked banknotes amounting to €7,900.

There is still a complaint from a citizen, from a lawyer, who allegedly gave him the amount of €120,000 in order to protect him from the complications he had from being involved in a criminal case. It essentially gave him protection. In fact, the man allegedly even sold his car and his house in order to give the money to this particular police officer.

His 29-year-old son has also been arrested with him. who serves as a special guard in the region of Attica.

Both are currently being taken to the investigator, while at the same time, in addition to the EDE, the measure of administrative availability has also been imposed against them.
