Dozens of migrants disembarked smugglers on the beach of Mykonos yesterday, who were later spotted on the boat

The Coast Guard detected a total yesterday 51 people (42 men, 8 women and 1 minor), on the beach of Agia Anna Kalafati, Mykonos.

Then, after coordinated actions by the Coast Guard Operations Center, it was located and immobilized yacht named “AURORA” of DELAWARE flag with three on board, which proceeded to the port of Patmos.

The 3 foreigners were arrested by the Port Authority of Patmos while a preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Port Authority of Mykonos

At noon yesterday, the Mykonos Port Authority was informed about the disembarking of a sufficient number of foreigners from a motorized yacht, at the beach of Agia Anna Kalafati in Mykonos. Officials of the relevant Port Authority immediately went to the area, where they identified a total of 51 foreigners (42 men, 8 women and 1 minor), all without travel documents.

Then, after coordinated actions of the Operations Center of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard, four (04) LS-ELA.KT patrol boats were activated. (P.L.S.-EL.AKT.), one (01) Patrol vessel L.S.-EL.AKT. (PPLS-EL.AKT.) and one (01) helicopter LS-EL.AKT. resulting in the detection and immobilization by the P.P.L.S. of a yacht named “AURORA” under the flag of DELAWARE with three on board, which drove to the port of Patmos.

From the data of the investigation, it emerged that the above boat earlier disembarked the aforementioned 51 foreigners in the prefecture of Mykonos, who recognized the three foreigners on board the yacht as their traffickers.

The 3 foreigners were arrested by the Port Authority of Patmos, for violating article 30 of Law 4251/14 (Obligations of carriers), article 83 par.1 of Law 3386/2005 (Illegal entry and exit from the Country) and article 187 of P.K. (Criminal organization), in conjunction with article 45 of the P.C. (Associates), while the T/G and its auxiliary vessel were seized.
