Participants in the racist march shouted slogans against immigrants, the manipulations of the Cypriot government and journalists.
Thirteen people were arrested by the Police in Limassol for the serious incidents that took place at the immigration protest event. Five people were slightly injured, according to sigmalive.com.
According to the press representative of the Cyprus Police, Christos Andreou, one of those arrested is the organizer of the protest event, who is accused of inciting violence.
According to photos on social media, damage has been caused to foreign shops in the area of ​​Epichosia and further north, towards the center of the city.
Participants in the immigration march were shouting anti-immigrant slogansof the manipulations of the Government but also of the journalists.
Journalists were attacked by unknown people and forced to leave the area, while Molotov cocktails, tear gas and firecrackers were thrown.
The situation remained tense until dawn, as the participants in the incidents continued to move in different areas of the center of Limassol.
In order to disperse them, the Police threw water using the Aiantas anti-disturbance vehicle.
What the incidents left behind, according to the Fire Service:
- Fire in a vehicle on Spyrou Arauzou Street (Parking Area). Extensive damage to the vehicle.
- Fire damage to the entrance glass panes and to the interior of 2 stores at the intersection of Anexartisias and Spyros Arauzou.
- Fire in an electrical panel of traffic lights on St. Ag. Zone with Thessaloniki.
- Plastic basket of 1100 liters which was located outside the clothing store on Anexartisias Street. The store window was also damaged by the fire.
