In the early hours of the morning, the Coast Guard proceeded to locate and collect 73 irregular migrants from inflatable boats
The Coast Guard carried out two separate operations, in Lesvos and Samos, to locate and collect 73 illegal immigrants.
In Samos, 25 people were spotted on board a stationary boat near the islet of Prasonisi.
The irregular migrants (17 men, 4 women, 3 boys, 1 girl), all in good health, were safely transported to the port of Malagari in Samos.
They were then handed over to officers of the Police Directorate and transferred to the Closed Controlled Facility of Samos.
The boat, in which the above foreigners were on board, was destroyed.
In Lesbos, in the early morning hours today, a Greek Navy ship which was on a scheduled patrol spotted an unmanned inflatable boat in the Agrielia sea area, with 48 people on board – among them several small children.
The crew immediately collected them and transported them safely to the port of Mytilene.
Afterwards, the foreigners were transferred to the K.Y.T. Quarantine area. “Montenegro”. The boat in which the above foreigners were on board sank.
A preliminary investigation is carried out by the Central Port Authority of Mytilene.
