According to the professor of Dynamic Tectonics Applied Geology and Natural Disaster Management and president of OASP, Efthymis Lekka, in Pelion, more than 500mm of rain was recorded in a limited period of time with extremely high speed.
As he said, the unprecedented levels of rainfall in eastern Thessaly constitute an extreme phenomenon, which is “fully justified based on the new data of the climate crisis on the one hand, and on the other hand due to the proximity to the sea and the transverse longitudinal arrangement of Pelion towards the front of the movement of the bad weather system.”
