An order to arrest four people, two members of the crew of the Blue Horizon ship, the deck officer and the master, was given by the Piraeus public prosecutor’s office on the occasion of the death of the 36-year-old who, in his attempt to overtake the ship, was found at sea.

As can be seen in a video made public by Proto Thema, shortly before the fall the unfortunate man is seen trying to enter the ship, while it has loosened its keels, however he is prevented and pushed away by two crew members, as a result of which he falls into the sea.

The preliminary investigation into the case has been undertaken by the central port authority of Piraeus.

Until late at night, interrogations continued and witness statements were taken from crew members and passengers.

In his message, the Minister of Shipping Miltiadis Varvitsiotis expresses his sadness for the tragic incident and notes that all the necessary actions are being taken by the Piraeus Port Authority to clarify the case and assign responsibility.
