Anastasios Stalikas was the “father” of Positive Psychology in Greece and was considered a pioneer in the subject of his science
Professor and President of the Department of Psychology at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Anastasios Stalikas, passed away today, after a hard “battle” with cancer. He was born in Thessaloniki on August 22, 1960. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 12 noon at the Assumption Church in Ilioupoli, Attica.
Anastasios Stalikas was the “father” of Positive Psychology in Greece and was considered a pioneer in the subject of his science. He was the founder and President of the Hellenic Society of Positive Psychology and taught in the company’s educational programs.
He was also an assistant professor at McGill University in Canada, as well as a visiting professor and scientific associate at other universities in Greece and abroad.
He was a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, business consultant and coach, author of 10 books, more than 60 book chapters and 200 articles and presentations to the international scientific community.
His research interests focused on the fields ofof Clinical and Counseling Psychology, the construction of psychometric tools and research methodology. His research goal was the study and understanding of the way in which people “bloom” mentally, i.e. the study of well-being, a central object of Positive Psychology.
He graduated in Psychology from Concordia University, Montréal. He did Masters in Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada.
He made the announcement of the death of the distinguished professor the Hellenic Society of Positive Psychology. It states: “It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of our beloved President Professor Anastasios Stalikas, who in the last months fought his own proud battle with cancer.
His desire was to be active in his academic, research and therapeutic duties until the last moment which he achieved through his brave and optimistic attitude towards his new reality.
The loss is great and the pain deep.
All of us will continue to walk based on the values ​​he taught us and which he honored with his actions until the last minute of his life.
