Their strong protest is expressed by hundreds of Chanians in the commercial port of Souda, right outside the entrance catapult of the passenger ferry Eleftherios Venizelos which departs according to the schedule for Piraeus at 10:00 in the evening.

The gathered are protesting the death of 36-year-old Antonis Karyotis from Agios Nikolaos, a death which they characterize as a criminal act and demand immediate measures and the immediate intervention of justice.

Protesters are not allowing trucks, passenger cars, two-wheelers and passengers to enter the boat for their scheduled trip to Piraeus.

However, the blocking of entry has not created any reaction and no complaints from drivers and passengers given the universal reaction to the tragic death and conditions of the young man.

Officers of the Coast Guard are located both at the entrance of the Port of Souda and at the ship’s catapult, apparently to prevent the protesters from entering the ship’s garage and Decks. It remains unknown at this time if the ship will sail normally and if the citizens will leave so that the ship can be loaded and set sail at 22.00

According to information from the APE that contacted crew members, it is considered a given that the ship will be delayed for departure, for more than an hour in the event that the protestors leave by 10:00. Citizens wrote slogans on a ship’s vehicle that it uses as a warehouse, namely “Dripping Blood”.
