The candidate for the president of SYRIZA-P.S. visited Magnesia and the city of Volos. Efi Ahtsioglou.

According to the press office of SYRIZA, Mrs. Ahtsioglou met and spoke with residents in the areas affected by the floods, conveying to them the support of SYRIZA-PS. He saw first hand the extensive disasters and the particularly difficult situation that the citizens are facing.

In a statement to the media, he pointed out the immediate needs for interventions to support the residents and restore the disasters. Specifically, Efi Ahtsioglou stated: “In Magnesia we faced images of absolute destruction. The inhabitants are indignant and complain that they are left to God’s mercy, without any help and without any state support. There is a huge problem with water in the city, for three days now the houses have no water and public health problems are also starting to arise. Mothers can’t take care of their children, people can’t wash, they can’t wash their dishes to cook. There is a power issue in the area. There is a very big problem with completely faulty flood protection projects, with sloppy work done a day before the disaster. No serious planning and no serious investment in public infrastructure. The responsibility is attributed by the residents themselves to the Region, to the Municipality but also to the complete absence of the central state administration, both in terms of preventive measures and in terms of measures to deal with the incident and care at this time after the destruction that has been done. We are on their side and will continue to push with all our strength as SYRIZA-PS. so that there can be quick support for citizens and restoration of disasters”.
