Practical support for the family of 36-year-old Antonis Karyotis, who tragically died in the port of Piraeus when he was pushed away by crew members while trying to board the ship “Blue Horizon”is expected to decide Panhellenic Maritime Federationwhich is holding an emergency meeting today, in order to examine in detail all the issues that have arisen since the tragic event.

With today’s new announcement, the Panhellenic Maritime Federation expressly and unequivocally condemns the criminal actions of specific crew members that led to the tragic death of Antonis Karyotis on the ship “Blue Horizon”, the investigation of which has been undertaken by the Authorities and the Court, so that all guilty persons to account for their actions.

It repeats and explicitly states in all directions that the criminal behavior of the specific sailors does not represent the vast majority of Greek Sailors.

The highest trade union body of the sailors once again expresses its deepest condolences to the relatives of the deceased and at the same time is going to decide on practical support for the family of the bereaved deceased.

According to information from members of shipping unions, at today’s meeting of the executive committee of the PNO, it is possible to decide on a strike mobilization of the coastal shipping sailors for the coming Wednesday, September 13 stating that the PNO’s fixed and stable position is the safety of maritime transport and the protection of human life.

Today at 7 pm in the port of Piraeus shipping unions and organizations have planned a protest rally at gate E-3.
