An all-night battle with the forces of nature and the level of the Pinios river will be given by the authorities, so that the water does not reach the city of Larissa.
The level of Pinios has already reached 10 meters, with the mayor of the city admitting in his statements to SKAI, that there is a danger for the city.
The river has overflowed and the waters on the outskirts of Larissa have overwhelmed the residential areas. With a message from 112, the precautionary evacuation of residents from the areas of Giannouli, Agios Thomas and Hippocrates was requested.

The crews are working feverishly on the outskirts of the city, in order to stop the further rise of the Pinios level, while rescue teams are on standby to intervene if necessary.
Kalogiannis: There is a risk of water entering Larissa
The mayor of Larissa, Apostolos Kalogiannis, spoke to SKAI about flooding and evacuations in the western districts of Larissa, as well as about the evacuations of 6 villages.
The whole city is facing the risk of flooding as the Pinios river level is at 10 meters.
“In the next hour it will be determined whether we will proceed with the evacuation of the Hippocrates district as well,” said the mayor.

The district of Ampelokipi is one of the districts that are being tested very hard by the increase in water in the internal bed of Pinios.
