ELGA’s original planning is under consideration, which provided for the payment of advance payments of compensation to the affected producers left behind by the bad weather “Daniel” in Thessaly in mid-October.

The implementation of the original plan will depend on the extension of the disasters left behind by the overflowing of the Pinios, as the time of drainage of the waters that have flooded the crops will also play an important role.

Both the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis, and the President of ELGA, Andreas Lykourentzos, have instructed the Organization’s mechanism to move quickly in order to immediately delineate the areas where there are disasters and to be able to pay the advance payments to the affected producers.

Subsequently, and specifically by the end of next week, the platform for submitting statements for compensation is expected to open, which will remain open until the end of September.

Extension of submission of IAS 2023 declarations

As stated in an announcement by the Organization for Payments and Control of Community Aid Guidance and Guarantees (OPECPE), producers located in the affected areas will be able to submit the IASC 2023 declarations after September 11, without the imposition of a delay penalty.

The extension in question applies strictly to the regions of the Region of Thessaly, the Regional Unit of Evros and the Regional Unit of Fthiotida.

According to reliable information, it is something that both the organizations of Thessaly and the producers who have been directly affected have requested since, as they mentioned, it is practically impossible to complete the prescribed procedure, since no service of Thessaly – and the Centers for Reception of Declarations – they do not work since the previous Monday when the extreme weather phenomena began to develop.

Sources of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food noted to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, that “Lefteris Avgenakis, although he is against the extensions, recognized the difficulties that exist and thus positively faced the related requests of the collective bodies of the plain”.

Finally, as announced by OPEKEPE, the deadline for the rest of the country is 11/9/2023.
