The rescued were safely transported to the port of Volos
Under the coordination of the Operations Center of the Coast Guard Headquarters – Hellenic Coast Guard, on 09-08-2023 an operation was carried out to free people who were in a difficult position, due to the adverse weather conditions that prevailed in areas of Pelion.
A total of one (01) Open Sea Ship LS-EL.AKT., two (02) Patrol boats LS-EL.AKT., the R/K “ACHILLES” N.B. 576, as well as the E/G-T/R vessel “CAPTAIN KOSTAS” N.V. 779.
Specifically, from the “COAST SAND” sea area, eleven (11) people were freed from two (02) patrol boats L.S. – EL. AKT. From the sea area “HORTO”, seven (07) people were rescued, from one (01) patrol vessel L.S. – EL. AKT.
From the “MILINA” sea area, six (06) people were rescued, from one (01) patrol boat L.S. – EL. AKT.
Twenty-four (24) people were rescued from the “HOREFTO” and “ELITSA POURIOU” sea areas, by the E/G – T/R vessel “KAPETAN KOSTAS”, with the assistance of one (01) Open Sea Vessel L.S. – EL. AKT.
From the “PLATANIA” sea area, twenty (20) people were rescued, from the R/K ship “ACHILLES”, with the assistance of one (01) patrol vessel L.S. – EL. AKT.
A total of sixty-eight (68) people were freed, who were taken to the port of Volos, where they disembarked safely, all in good health.
