Under the heavy shadow of the extreme flooding phenomena that test Thessalyrallies were held by labor unions, collectives, students, pensioners and the unemployed, on the occasion of the opening of the 87th TIF.

Expressing their solidarity with the flood victims and those affected by the summer firesthose gathered demonstrated in the center of Thessaloniki, demanding better wages and better working conditions, an improvement in the quality of public health and education services.

The gathering of GSEE, ADEDY, EDOTH and EKTH took place at the statue of Venizelos with the central slogan “Work and Progress with Durability and Respect for Labor Rights and our Conquests” with the participation of labor unions, health workers, distributors, etc.

A separate gathering of PAME was held in the square of the CHANTH and the participation of labor unions, student and rural associations, self-employed unions, etc. The central slogan of the event was “Their profits or our lives”.

Relatives of the victims of the fatal train accident in Tempe staged a protest in front of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. who demand justice for the loss of the 57 passengers of the fatal train. “We are pushing as much as we can for the attribution of responsibilities so that those who are at fault will pay,” said Christos Konstantinidis, representative of the “Association of Victims of Tempo”.

At the same time, members of the extra-parliamentary Left, students and members of collectives from the wider anti-authoritarian space gathered in Kamaras Square.

All those gathered formed marches that moved through various streets of the city.

At the same time, strong police forces formed an early cordon around the TIF facilities, while in key parts of the city there were police officers and barriers with railings and cages were deployed.
