All water in those areas is now potentially contaminated, scientists warn. Authorities advise residents not to drink or wash with the specific waters. Health officials warn of the increased risk of leptospirosis and hepatitis, mainly due to the rodents and dead animals present in the waters.
A total of 4,250 rescues – evacuations of people, who were taken to safe places, have been carried out from 7 am on Tuesday, September 5, until 7 am today, Sunday, September 10, according to information from the Fire Department. At the same time, during the same period of time, the Operations Center of the Fire Department received 9,047 calls for water pumping and tree cutting.
