Chrysostomos Tsoufis

It entered our lives in 1997 and was a revolution. It changed everything in our dealings with the tax office after significantly reducing initially, and over the years, eliminating queues at tax offices.

It made possible what today is taken for granted, the electronic submission of our tax returns.

At the same time, it enabled the control mechanisms to carry out checks electronically by developing a series of digital tools to limit tax evasion.

The reason for it TAXISwhich 26 years later, is now considered obsolete, with AADE now preparing the successor situation, the new TAXIS while TAXISnet and ELENXIS will also experience restructuring as well as their own “paint” is starting to wear off as they are in operation approx. 15 years.

The new system will introduce the relationship between the taxpayer and the AADE in the new era, it will significantly improve the information of taxpayers, their possibilities and their information through new tools.

In addition, it will make it easier and more complete to utilize the available information and data, thus enhancing tax compliance. Among other things, the new system provides for the following:

Digital Tax File : All services provided, electronic and not, will be fully digitized

.Thus, the taxpayer will have the possibility to – without ever requiring his physical presence – to have a complete picture of his affairs at any time.

The file will also include all the files that concern the taxpayer and are currently in paper form at the local tax office branches.

Once Only: Once only. This will be the principle that will govern the relations of individuals and businesses initially with AADE and then through interoperability with all public services. The taxpayer will only enter his details once in his transactions.

Online : The new system will be connected to systems such as that of banks, electronic invoicing and cash registers to enhance tax compliance.

Behavioral Analysis : For better control, methods of risk analysis and taxpayer behaviors will be used in combination with extensive cross-referencing and exchange of data with other countries.

Abolition of territorial jurisdiction: As auditors now have the right to audit outside their areas, in fact throughout the territory, so the geographical dimension is also abolished in terms of serving the taxpayer.

New control centers: They will be created in the regions and, among other things, the mechanisms for receiving complaints about tax violations will be used and they will strengthen field controls by providing information to the “criminals”.

New online Services – Applications: International best practices will be utilized

The project of the new Taxis, totaling €131.6 million, has been included in the Recovery Fund and the procedures for the international tender have already begun with AADE putting the draft of the new contract for public consultation (until September 21).
