Announcement about femicide in Thessaloniki issued by EL.AS.

As reported in the morning hours today (12/09), police officers of the Crimes Against Life and Personal Liberty Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate immediately went to the area of ​​Kalamaria following a call to the Center of the Direct Action Directorate of Thessaloniki regarding shots fired from inside an apartment building.

When the police arrived, a 42-year-old citizen was found dead in the corridor outside the entrance of her apartment, while her 38-year-old ex-husband, a citizen, was also found dead near her.

According to the police investigation, at the aforementioned point, the 38-year-old man fired a shotgun at the 42-year-old woman, fatally injuring her, and then shot himself, resulting in his fatal injury.

A crew from the Sub-Directorate of Criminal Investigations of Northern Greece and a Medical Examiner from the University of Athens went to the scene, while Psychologists from the Central Clinic of Thessaloniki assisted by providing psychological support to their minor children.

A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Department of Crimes against Life and Personal Freedom of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate.
