Unbelievable, beyond all imagination, situation, they are living in the last days, the residents of the Municipality of Agia.

The plain of Omoli, from Palaiopyrgos to Stomioremains submerged in water, with titanic and continuous efforts to strengthen the dikes in Pinios so that the settlements do not drown.

The vast plain which encloses Eleftherio, Dimitra, Plasia, Kastri, Amygdali, Kalamaki, Armenio, Platykambos, is also submerged, for the greater part, in water, which ceaselessly comes from the overflowing Pineos in height of Gyrtoni.

Farmers in despair. Agricultural equipment lost, crops destroyed, no hope for this year’s production, maybe even for the next.

And as if all that wasn’t enough, the entire Municipality is completely cut off from Larissa. Cut off both from the side of Omoli and the valley of Tempe. Also cut off from the side of Agia, with a lot of water running over the section Dimitra – Eleftherio and thus making it impossible for vehicles to travel.

The only exit or entrance from or to the Municipality is from Omolio to or from Thessaloniki, and as far as the connection with Larissa is concerned, it was until yesterday through the embankments of Karla, Velestino and then the old or new National Road, which was however prohibited, because the risk of an accident through such an informal road was too great.

The problems from this whole situation are many.

The supply is practically non-existent. Today is the fourth day of the blockade and the shelves in the supermarkets are almost empty of basic food and hygiene products. Bottled water is nowhere to be found, dairy products, legumes, pasta, flour, all kinds are in short supply. As of yesterday morning, gas stations have run out of diesel, another very serious problem for farmers and their agricultural machinery and cars, now in the apple harvest season. She also ran out of gas by evening. In the pharmacies, there is also a problem with the transport of preparations from the Larissa pharmacy. Grocery store license. Trucks stopped waiting to leave for Athens.

And the biggest of all the problems, the forced movements of the hemodialysis patients to the hospitals of Larissa, the scheduled patient appointments, the unexpected health incidents for which a transfer to Larissa must be made. It is worth mentioning that many blood cleans were forced to travel the route Agia – Karla – Velestino – Larisa and back again, a route of two hundred kilometers in total there and back. Two and a half hours to go, two and a half to return, three to do hemodialysis, a total of eight hours of suffering for each hemodialysis patient!

On the section of the Agia-Larissa road from Dimitra to Eleftherio, which is also the biggest problem with water on the road surface, since yesterday only a large agricultural tractor with a cart is moving, which transports people to Larissa for a very urgent need. Third-world situations, but life-saving at the moment, since there is no other means of transportation. From today, in the event that the water falls a little on the “route”, a fire truck will enter it. The Municipality of Agia issued the following announcement:

“Despite the efforts to restore traffic on the Agia-Larissa provincial road network, we know that this has not been possible until now.

After yesterday’s information, that the only access to Larissa, which was through the Karla embankment, has been closed, the municipality of Agia, in order to serve only very extraordinary incidents, such as the transport of patients, medicines, etc., informs that the access to the dangerous point of the roadway at the height of Eleftheriou will be done with the use of a heavy vehicle of the Fire Department of Agia or a private agricultural tractor, which we thank.
