Mrs. Eleni Legatou, the third defense witness in the trial of Roula Pispirigou, like the accused’s sister and uncle, whose statements preceded it, declared in court that her daughter was a “model mother” who would never turn against the her children.

“She wouldn’t kill her children. She was a mother, maybe even better than me. I used to work. I might not be able to offer her much. My Rula was on her children. She was a model mother. I believe in her innocence” he said.

With great emotional charge, the witness emphasized that she has lost three grandchildren and her daughter is in prison.

“I’ve been under a lot of stress psychologically. I have lost three grandchildren, one by one they were leaving, and my child is in prison. Iris came to give joy and left again, Teolis took them from us”.

Mrs. Legatou described the accused as a quiet child, while referring to Roula Pispirigou’s relationship with Manos Daskalakis, she described her as “very good».

According to the witness, the extramarital relationship of Mr. Daskalakis was “casual” where “came and passed».

In questions about the character of the accused and the reports that she was “cold” in the deaths of her three daughters, Ms. Legatou testified that Roula Pispirigou did not show her emotions in front of others and that she was a closed person.

The witness said that he heard that the doctor was late in arriving at the hospital both from a member of the Daskalakis family and from Georgina’s father himself who had said that the anesthesiologist had arrived ten minutes after him.
