Lack of empathy for the functioning of institutionsattributes to Stefanos Kasselakis, presidential candidate for the leadership of SYRIZA with a harsh announcement of the Union of Judges and Prosecutorsresponding to the “judges and journalists teething” that Stefanos Kasselakis subscribed to in a dialogue with a party supporter at a rally in Ioannina.

The adoption by Kasselakis of the opinion expressed from a participant in a gathering of the presidential candidate in Ioannina, when she told him “to toothless judges and journalists” has provoked reactions and severe criticisms.
The Union of Judges and Prosecutors issued a statement, in which it harshly criticizes the specific statements and calls on SYRIZA to disapprove of them, noting that they insult the institutions and the democratic state.

The announcement of the Union of Judges and Prosecutors in detail.

According to today’s reports, but also as can be seen from a relevant video posted on the Internet, during yesterday’s public speech by Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis in Ioanninacandidate for the Presidency of the Official Opposition party, between himself and a citizen, who was in the audience, the following direct public debate took place: citizen addressing Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis, who hands her the microphone: “If you manage to root out this system of judges and journalists, then the country will be able to move forward” and right away, Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis answers her on the microphone: “I like it, okay? I like it, but you have to vote on Sunday, you have to vote on Sunday.”

The above statement of Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis, i.e. a person who claims an important institutional role in the Democratic Republic of our country, who, with his answer, he subscribes to the above positions, effectively declaring that he “likes” to “remove” the system of judges and journalists, it does not constitute either a criticism or a political position. On the contrary, it demonstrates ignorance and a lack of empathy about the functioning of Democratic Institutions.

Granted, that respect for institutions is a top obligation of every political person, which strengthens the structure of a Society, we call on the political party, to which Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis belongs, to immediately take a position on his above response, with which he subscribes to positions that offend the institution of Justice and the freedom of the press and demonstrate a lack of respect for the principles of the Rule of Law, which rule our favored state.
