The family of the police officer from the village of Alexandroupolis, who served in the Border Guard Department of Orestiada in Chimonio, despite their immense sadness, decided to donate his organs to three of our fellow citizens in Greece.
The 31-year-old Border Guard who had shot himself with his service revolver in the early hours of September 3 and was hospitalized all this time in the Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis finally died.
Earlier, the family of the policeman from the village of Alexandroupolis, who served in the Border Guard Department of Orestiada in Chimonio, despite their immense sadness, decided to donate his organs to three of our fellow citizens in Greece.
To whom the heart, kidneys and corneas were transplanted and thus the policeman now gives after his death to these people. A moving energy, which shows greatness of soul and contribution to fellow human beings.
The administration of the P.G. Hospital of Alexandroupoli in its announcement refers to this moving donation of organs and the mobilization that took place in collaboration with the transplant team of the National Transplant Organization. As it states:
“Today, Friday 15/09/2023, at the University General Hospital of Alexandroupoli, after a marathon effort by the doctors of the Intensive Care Unit, the Anesthesiology Department, the Surgery, as well as the transplant team of the National Transplant Organization, an organ donation was made by a patient
hospitalized in the M.E.Th.. The Administration of the Hospital expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased who, despite the burden and sadness, with empathy responded to the call of the doctors of the Intensive Care Unit and offered gifts of life to the sufferers, consenting to the making the donation. It is everyone’s wish that their example, which is based on selflessness, humanity and love for the suffering fellow human being, will be followed by other fellow human beings. Finally, the Administration of P. G.N. Alexandroupolis warmly thanks and congratulates all the Doctors and Nurses for their decisive contribution to the successful outcome of the donations”.
