Four seminars will be held, with the aim of informing producers on how to deal with the consequences of the devastating fire so that they can reopen their farms as soon as possible
Educational seminars for the fire-stricken Beekeepers, Livestock Breeders and Farmers of Rhodes from the 18th to the 22nd of September, which have been affected by the devastating fires of the summer, ELGO-DIMITRA is proceeding in cooperation with the Region of the South Aegean, the local government and the productive bodies of the island.
They will come true four informative – educational seminars, which aim, on the one hand, to inform the producers of the immediate actions they should take to deal with the consequences of the catastrophic fire in the production process of their agricultural holding and, on the other hand, the management of natural resources and the soil, in order to, in the shortest period of time, manage to reopen their farms.
The program of seminars:
- Beekeeping – Forest Management on Monday, September 18, 2023. The speakers will be the Director of the Institute of Forestry Research, Dr. Thomas Papachristou, and Dr. Sofia Gounari, researcher at the Institute of Mediterranean and Forest Ecosystems. The seminar will take place at 18:30 at KEK G. Gennimatas, in Rodini Park.
- Animal Husbandry – Pasture Management on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. The speakers will be the Director of the Institute of Forestry Research, Dr. Thomas Papachristou, and Dr. Vasiliki Kotsampasi, researcher at the Institute of Animal Production Science. The seminar will take place at 19:30 in Laerma in the multi-purpose hall.
- Olive growing (two-day seminar) on Thursday, September 21 and Friday, September 22, 2023. The speaker will be Dr. Giorgos Koumbouris, researcher at the Institute of Olives, Subtropical Plants and Vine.
On Thursday, September 21, the seminar will take place at 19:00 in Apollon in the “Apollon” community hall.
On Friday, September 22, the seminar will take place at 19:00 in Gennadi, in the multipurpose room of the Gennadi Primary School.
