On Thursday, September 21, the seafarers will participate in a strike mobilization, on the occasion of the government’s promotion of the labor bill.

According to a statement issued earlier today by the Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marines (PENEN), the new bill “imposes 13 hours of work per day, 78 hours per week, abolishes breaks in the workplace, a series of benefits breaks them, strengthens flexible forms employment, further undermines the 8-hour, 5-day, Sunday holidays in large industries such as the food and beverage industry, etc. It enacts minimum-work, zero-hours contracts and bespoke work’.

The members of PENEN will gather on Thursday, at 10:00, at the offices of the Piraeus Labor Center in Karaiskaki square and then they will participate in the protest march.

In addition to PENEN, the Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marine Engineers, the Panhellenic Union of Junior Engine Crews E.N. will participate in the strike mobilization. “STEFENSON” and the Panhellenic Professional Union of Chefs E.N.
