“Obscene profit is morally abhorrent and condemnable and we treat it as such” said the minister, proceeding with the announcement of 4 new measures
First step: securing a permanent reduced price on the shelf
The reduction will be 5% for at least six months, not including the discount period
The reference price of the product will be September 19, while anyone who makes a profit will face a 20,000 euro fine per product.
Second measure: Supermarkets are required to notify the ministry of suppliers’ price lists so that checks can be carried out.
Third measure. Transparency in prices and for fruit and vegetables, supermarkets are obliged to announce prices from suppliers
Fourth measure : Strengthening of control mechanisms as the complaints system is strengthened while an application is created on mobile phones for immediate complaints by citizens.
