To a total prison sentence of 30 months, with a three-year suspension, a 42-year-old, Russian national, who was arrested last January for sending messages, via e-mail, with which he threatened to plant bombs both at the airport “El. Venizelos” in Athens as well as in six hospitals in Attica.
“I am imam Vlad Seveliev, from the Taliban organization. I am a Tatar Muslim and I am ready to shed my blood for Islam. There is TNT explosive and soon there will be a detonation. In the name of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad you must die”reported the messages sent by the accused “prankster”, as testified by a police officer of the Anti-Terrorist Service of Northern Greece, the service that arrested him in eastern Thessaloniki.
The court found him guilty of seriously disrupting the orderly operation of a service (on a continuance), spreading false news (on a continuance), attempting to obstruct transportation, and threatening to commit an act of terrorism, all misdemeanors.
The defendant himself did not appear in court nor was he represented by an attorney. During preliminary investigation, however, he denied that he was the sender of the disputed messages. He had “bloggers” statements and attributed the above action against “youtubers”, speaking of slander against him.
